Slime might dry out, lose its stretch, or become too sticky over time. This is usually a sign it’s nearing the end of its life. However, many of these issues can be fixed with a bit of lotion or glycerin, so don’t toss it right away!

3. Scented or Decorated Slime:
Slime with extra ingredients like scent, glitter, or foam beads might have a shorter lifespan due to the added components breaking down, lasting around 1 to 2 months.

4. Clear Slime:
Clear slime can last slightly longer (up to 3 months) but might need some extra care to prevent it from hardening or becoming too sticky.

Evaporation of Moisture:
The main cause of slime shrinking is the loss of moisture. When slime is exposed to air, even in small amounts (like when stored in a not-so-tight container), water in the slime slowly evaporates, leading to shrinkage and drying.

Dehydration Due to Heat or Sunlight:
If slime is stored in a hot area or exposed to sunlight, it can cause the slime to dry out faster, which leads to it shrinking and becoming less stretchy.

Chemical Breakdown Over Time:
Over time, the ingredients in slime, such as glue and activator, can break down or react, causing it to lose volume and shrink. This happens more quickly in older slimes.

Regular Handling:
Frequent stretching, playing, and exposure to air during play can also cause some shrinkage as small amounts of slime are lost or dried out each time.
